History of Meta-Programs (1)

Meta-Programs are permanent perception filters that shape our personality and form structures of our orientation in both professional and private life. What is meant by meta-programs and how they can be used, you will learn here!

Meta-Programs

Meta-Programs are part of our inner filters that we use. They determine how we see the world, specify how we distort, generalize, and delete incoming information, how we access archived memories, and which information we focus our attention on. With their help, we arrive at generalizations, maintain them, or refute them. Our meta-programs determine what interests us, where our attention goes, and how we are motivated and remain so.

By understanding the meta-programs of another person, it is possible to predict their behavior with astonishing accuracy. Our communication becomes more successful when we use our language in a way that the words and phrases are adapted to the filters of our counterpart. This creates, on an unconscious level, what NLP calls "Rapport": a trusting, mutually aligning understanding.

Meta-Programs

When assembling effective teams, knowledge of the filters of individual team members is essential for successful collaboration: No meta-program exists without the other – they complement and enrich each other. Only in this way can one-sidedness in teams be avoided.

When filling positions, it is advisable to first create a meta-program profile of the tasks in order to then formulate the job offer in such a way that the right candidates take notice of it. With the help of the NLP personality profile, the applicant is then selected who is best suited for fulfilling this task.

Market research using meta-programs provides insights into which language patterns are most effective for advertising a product.

Meta-Programs

For personal development, it is important to know which filters one uses oneself. This quickly reveals why one constantly has stress with certain people and allows one to change their behavior accordingly in the future. If the goal is to utilize one's potentials as well as possible, one can train certain filters or change a one-sided use of filters.

Meta-Programs

Meta-Programs are not rigid filters; they often change over time and are always dependent on the respective context and emotional state. When we feel stress, we often use our meta-programs differently than in relaxed situations where we feel safe.

There is no right or wrong with meta-programs; there is not just one meta-program. Depending on the context, some are more useful and some are less useful. Only through their interplay and mutual influence does the whole emerge.

Meta-Programs

So it is not about putting people in boxes with the motto: "He has meta-program X, no wonder he is like that." Rather, it is about recognizing the opportunity, in the knowledge of these structures, to make the interaction with oneself and others more flexible, open, and free.

A person is not their behavior – they have a behavior!
