NLP Institutes, DVNLP and INLPTA - the major NLP associations
Certifications in NLP
Table of Contents
With this page and the subpages, we would like to contribute a little to the clarification regarding the associations and certifications in NLP. Our trainings meet the highest standards of international associations. In general, the requirements of the associations are even significantly exceeded.
All our trainings are conducted according to the standards of the world's largest NLP association, the International Association of NLP Institutes (NLP-IN). For some trainings, the certificate of the DVNLP (German Association for Neurolinguistic Programming) and the International NLP Trainer Association can also be issued for a fee.
Most trainings in Germany are conducted by trainers who are members of one of these associations:
- NLP Institutes: International Association of NLP Institutes
- DVNLP: German Association for Neurolinguistic Programming
- INLPTA: International NLP Trainer Association
Since I am often asked about differences and criteria in training, I would like to introduce the associations in more detail on this page.
NLP Institutes
The International Association of NLP Institutes is a global association of experienced NLP institutes and qualified NLP practitioners with a common ethics and quality standard, from Australia, China, Arab countries, Europe, the USA to Brazil. The member NLP institutes have all successfully conducted at least 7 high-quality NLP standard trainings. No other organization has as many members worldwide as this association. It has an extensive website and regularly organizes congresses and meetings of the country presidents. The global organization is led by Karl and Nandana Nielsen. In Germany, I am the country president of this organization.
The IN has current curricula and proven ethical standards, integrity, professional ambition, experience, quality, and excellence. New members are warmly welcomed. Qualifications from other NLP associations are recognized.
A special feature of this association is that, through cooperation with a foreign university, degree programs in psychology and coaching with a focus on NLP can be completed. Our courses are counted as attendance times. Degrees can be obtained as Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. degrees.

DVNLP
The German Association for Neurolinguistic Programming has evolved from the GANLP (German Association of Neurolinguistic Programming). In recent years, the association has drastically increased its demands for certificate issuance and the appointment of new teaching trainers. Some increases in requirements were obviously intended to make it more expensive and difficult for new trainers to also become certified trainers. When selecting suitable trainers, one should also consider that there are numerous NLP teaching trainers who obtained their appointment in earlier years and therefore do not meet these criteria. The DVNLP certificate has lost some of its reputation in recent years due to many inconsistencies within the association. The majority of members are teaching trainers who are entitled to award seals through their membership. For regular NLP practitioners, the association has almost no offers.

INLPTA
The goal of the International NLP Trainer Association (INLPTA) is to facilitate the adoption, by professional NLP trainers worldwide, of the ethical and professional use of NLP. This is achieved through standardization and continuous improvement of the NLP certification process. INLPTA traces its origins back to Wyatt Woodsmall and is thus the oldest NLP trainer association in the world. Initially, Richard Bandler was also involved here. The German representation is headed by Bert Feustel in Munich.

Society of NLP (Richard Bandler)
“The Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a globally represented organization founded in 1978. It aims to establish quality control for training programs and services that claim to represent the model of Neurolinguistic Programming.”
The Society advises caution when applying the techniques and skills of NLP. It strongly recommends attending only those seminars, workshops, or training programs that have been officially created and certified by the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. All training programs recognized and endorsed by the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming display a specimen of the certification mark of the Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming – Richard Bandler.
However, there are no written quality standards in this association. At least, we could not find any after extensive research, and no one has been able to send us any upon request. Some trainers from the Society conduct NLP Practitioner trainings in 5 to 7 days - often in very large groups. These trainings are not recognized by the other associations (minimum duration 16 or 18 days). This is often very unfortunate for the participant. I (SL) have also been presented with dubious offers to exchange my DVNLP certificates for Bandler certificates, so that in the future I could certify my participants for 250 dollars per certificate. In insider circles, it is known that a certificate signed by Bandler initially only means that the fee has been paid. Of course, there are also very good trainers in this organization, but there is also the possibility of completing the training in a few days with many participants, which does not meet the quality standards of the other associations.
No further guidelines could be found here.
ÖDV-NLP
The Austrian umbrella organization for Neurolinguistic Programming (ÖDV-NLP) strives to ensure a high-quality standard with clear guidelines for the association and its members and to make it transparent to their clients.
