NLP Examples
NLP here, NLP there, because you hear so much about how effective NLP is supposed to be and what it allegedly does for other people…
- But are there any proofs?
- Any practical references?
- Examples from people who have experienced it firsthand, something one can identify with?
One thing in advance: In NLP, there are certain techniques that can help you master any situation you find yourself in.
These techniques are already very old and proven, so for example, participants in our coaching or students of one of our trainings can report groundbreaking results they have learned through NLP from one of the best coaches nationwide!
– Stephan Landsiedel
NLP trainings and corresponding practice groups (so-called peer groups) and practice evenings offer a wealth of opportunities to apply, practice, and experiment with what you've learned. But is that really enough to unlock the whole 'magic' of NLP for yourself and be able to apply it in various situations?
Maybe you're now asking yourself where you can apply NLP…
In short: Everywhere people communicate with each other or with themselves. (When I first thought about this question, I was amazed at how many possibilities there are.)
Paper is patient – so they say – and many 'gurus' take advantage of this, because one can say a lot, but what about results? So that you can convince yourself of what NLP can do for people, -if it has been taught and practiced correctly!- some of our clients have shared their successes with us:
(The following NLP examples involve people of various ages and different professional backgrounds. However, they all have one thing in common: They apply NLP in their daily lives and make their lives a bit more successful.)
Markus (32) gym manager
Most people come to us because they are not satisfied with their bodies and want to change that. Often, after about three months, the initial excitement wears off, people stop training and are additionally frustrated because they have 'failed'. I have made it my mission to prevent exactly that! I am convinced: If you believe in yourself and have the right mindset, you can achieve anything! That's why I stay in close contact with our members – and NLP helps me with that every day!
Personally, I had the experience at an NLP seminar about goal setting: how good it feels when you deal with your goals, tackle them, and finally achieve them! And I can now pass this knowledge on to my members. I have understood that every person has something very specific that motivates them. I talk about this with our members, I visualize their dreams with them, and encourage them to live them.
Let's take the famous 'dream body' as an example: Thanks to NLP, I know how important it is to imagine exactly what my personal dream body looks like! How much do I want to weigh? How many muscles do I want to have? By when exactly do I want to have achieved that? Ideally, with a specific date. – These are things I ask my members, and I keep reminding them – and since I started doing that, hardly anyone drops out before they have reached their goal! Then they are proud and grateful. And that gives me a great feeling.

T. Knappmeier (43) office clerk
It is my job to advise clients. Especially when it comes to finances, many people are insecure and therefore anxious about doing something wrong. It is up to me to alleviate this uncertainty. The communication training from NLP has given me many practical tips for this. It doesn't help the client if I know my stuff and they still don't understand anything. Therefore, it is my task to first ask what exactly they envision, where exactly the uncertainties are, and just by doing that, many clients already clarify something. And then it is of course important that I can explain complex matters to them in a way that they understand – and I have to be able to adjust to my counterpart. Just the concept of the different 'maps' has helped me – every person has their own, and within each map, there are their own rules. What is extremely important to me may be irrelevant to the client – in their map that may not matter. And if I know that, I can accept it and focus more on other things. For me, the greatest thing is when clients feel well advised and I know I have been able to convey my knowledge – both from finance and from NLP – competently! Alongside my studies, I did a
Ich hab gelernt, mir meine Ziele deutlich vorzustellen, really getting into the situation of holding my bachelor's thesis in my hands. It felt great. It really motivated me to push myself in a completely different way. And now I really have my bachelor's certificate in my hands and I'm doing my master's.

Matilda W. Klein (43) Saleswoman
You know, in sales, it's all about being able to connect with people. I want to meet people where they are and pick up where they currently stand. And I can tell you, NLP is a true treasure trove of building blocks. I have understood like never before that there is simply more than just one reality, which is the true reality for everyone. With this knowledge, I don't have to force my viewpoint, but can simply adjust to the fact that the other person sees it differently than I do. And if I just ask the right questions, my conversation partner immediately feels comfortable and understood, and it is much more likely that they will buy something.

This thing with the Submodalities has helped me boost my sales figures. I have been self-employed for over 30 years, but I have never sold as many cars as in the last few years. You learn in these NLP trainings how to really listen. When someone comes and says things like: 'Listen, I need a car, a solid four-door sounds good...', they speak like an auditory type. And I can respond and say things like: 'It has a great sound system, listen to how this engine purrs,...' They are much more interested in that than in the appearance because they are an auditory type and not a visual type. And just because I know what to pay attention to when listening and react accordingly, my customer feels taken care of and buys the thing.

Ms. Groß (53) Teacher
I have been at this school forever, and you just have a certain reputation. Everyone was always afraid of me, but to be honest, that flattered me a bit. After all, I have the expectation that people learn something from me. However, I must admit that I have sometimes gone a bit overboard and was a bit too strict with some students over the years. When my husband then recommended that I do this training, I naturally first went through the roof – why on earth do I need training in personal development?! I have been a teacher for years; I am a solid personality!
Well, he managed to persuade me, and I must honestly say that things came up that I never expected in my life! Things that I had completely repressed, from my childhood for example – I would never have thought it possible. But we did something called ‘Timeline Work’ where I realized that I had a formative experience very early on. I was about three or four years old and found myself in a situation where I was simply overlooked, which hurt a lot. In the training, I then realized that I had decided back then to want to assert myself. That then took over in some situations. Now I am much calmer. I still challenge my students, but I will not repeat the mistakes of the past.

Context Reframing is the tool that has personally helped me the most. I received funding for the NLP Practitioner Training as part of a continuing education in my profession, and among many topics, Reframing hit me the hardest. I talk to parents every day and hear about all the problems their children cause. I always thought that the children were not to blame. However, through the training, I gained the confidence to explain this to the parents – not directly to their faces, but by telling them about context reframing . Then they regularly have their lightbulb moments.
A typical conversation goes like this:
‘My son can never sit still, always interrupts, doesn't want to go to bed at night, and is unbearably active on long car rides!
It's so exhausting, I don't know what to do anymore!’
Then I explain: ‘Be glad that your child has so much energy! Let him ride his bike more or go to soccer practice – he will be a great player!’ The change in perspective shows that a behavior that previously seemed unfavorable can be quite welcome in a different context . This helps parents develop more understanding for their child.

When I go on stage, I want to reach people! I want to motivate them, inspire them, stimulate them. For that, I have to of course live what I teach: be fully present in the moment and convey energy. This works wonderfully with the help of State Management! I gather all my strengths, become aware of how wonderful life is, enjoy what I do, push aside doubts and fears, and then step into the spotlight completely present and energized. These are the moments worth living for – that's when you truly feel alive! For those who want to feel this way, I can only recommend the NLP method of State Management.

In my profession, it is important to have a stable personality, to be structured, and to work efficiently. I consider it a privilege to have chosen the right path early on. As a teenager, I began reading countless books by people I regard as my mentors – this has allowed me to acquire enormous knowledge. In my career, the major challenges are then to apply and implement this knowledge. The NLP training has its greatest benefit for me right here: The techniques, which you learn, are practical, realistic, and quickly applicable. Especially as a leader, you interact daily with a variety of people – for the process to run smoothly, my communication must be flawless, so that my employees know exactly what to do and how.

Petra S. (38) Housewife and mother
My eldest is now entering puberty, and as is well known, a lot of problems come with it. Therefore, I thought, I would further my education, to make this time a bit more pleasant for all of us. A friend then introduced me to NLP , which helped her a lot with her husband back then and probably even saved their marriage. During puberty, children change in a completely different way, and to be honest, I find it hard to let him go, even though I know he needs to have his own experiences. I let him decide as much as possible, but I always remain vigilant and available to him, as he is just finding his way.

André Z. (33) Police officer
What we have learned from NLP, we can use well in our profession as police officers, especially to discuss problems. For example, there is a so-called diamond technique, which helps to bring structure to a situation, a problem, or a question, allowing you to come up with perspectives or solutions that you might have overlooked without this tool. And we cannot afford to overlook things. It feels good when you can go into action prepared . Of course, there is much more that we have taken away from it. It is simply practical when everyone on the team knows these tools and we can then work with them.

I have always had problems approaching women. I was totally shy and always had fearof doing something wrong. Then I went to Landsiedel – and it was incredible! We were a totally diverse group of great people, and I felt really comfortable, even with the women! It boosted my self-confidence enormously. I have become much more secure and experienced firsthand that I have something to offer! The others were super supportive and encouraged me not to make it too hard on myself. It was an incredibly good experience!

I was married for years, then she divorced me and took everything. I was in quite a low point until a friend said he knew what could help me out. I signed up for NLP in a Week – that was the best decision I could have made! It was an amazing week! Stephan really opened my eyes to how beautiful life can be and what a blessing it is to have left that woman behind and finally live my own life! It was, as my friend said, an energy boost, and since then, things have been going well again. I enjoy doing things again and getting to know myself anew. Thank you, Stephan!

Sonja and Mike Kühn
For years, we had grown apart and talked past each other. It was terrible because we love each other, but there was more and more fighting and we were on the verge of separating. Then Mike heard about NLP at work and how it improves the communication. We decided to participate in a seminar together – our last resort. What we experienced was insane: We are closer than ever before. Not only has our communication improved, but our entire relationship has improved! We have gotten to know each other better and still benefit from it today. We can say: NLP has saved our relationship!
