Transformational Vocabulary
Words? They serve to make us laugh or cry. They can wound or heal, instill hope or leave us devastated. With words, we can express our noblest intentions and reveal our deepest desires.
Many of us are aware of the influential role that words have played in our history and the power that talented speakers have to prompt us to think and act. You too can make use of these powerful words! Change your usual vocabulary, the terms you constantly use to express your feelings. Then, in no time, you can change your mindset, your emotions, and your lifestyle. Imagine how your life would unfold if you could dampen the intensity of all negative feelings to the point where they no longer have a significant impact and you feel like you can handle everything. How would your life unfold if you could amplify your most positive feelings and thus improve your quality of life? You will see, this can be accomplished in a matter of seconds.
Exercise for this week
Take a moment for yourself, perhaps right now!
1. Identify negative feelings
Write down 3 words that you repeatedly use to put yourself in a bad mood (bored, frustrated, angry?). Pay attention to the choice of these terms, ensuring that you regularly use them to paralyze yourself and deal destructively with yourself. To identify some of the words that need to be transformed, ask yourself: What negative feelings do I regularly experience?
2. Now put yourself in an exaggerated, carefree mood!
Spontaneously and randomly invent some new words that you think could serve to change your emotional intensity in some way. Choose a word that you would like to use instead of the old, limiting one.
Example:
If the term “angry” triggers a bad mood for you, use the phrase “unpleasantly touched” instead. Perhaps the new term provokes a little laughter, thus fulfilling the purpose of the exercise, as it causes a sudden interruption of the old pattern!
Metaphor of the Week
Learning effect
First day:
I walk down a street, on the sidewalk. Suddenly, a hole opens up in the ground in front of me. I fall in. I am lost. I know I must die. I call for help pitifully. Then, after an endlessly long time, someone comes to my aid, helps me out of the hole.
Second day:
I walk down the same street, on the same sidewalk. In front of me, the hole in the ground unexpectedly opens up again. I fall in. I am scared. But I pick myself up, and I realize that there is a way I can free myself. It is difficult, but I eventually succeed.
Third day:
I walk down the same street, on the same sidewalk, and there is the same hole again. I fall in again – out of sheer habit. I am annoyed with myself, climb out the way I now know, and continue on.
Fourth day:
I walk down the same street again, on the same sidewalk, see the hole in front of me - and change sides of the street.
Fifth day:
I take a different street.

Archive
We have created a Archive with the past lessons and links created. There you will also find this lesson again as a webpage in HTML. There are occasionally some email programs that display strange characters and neither receive clean emails in our text nor HTML format. In this case, use the online archive to read the lessons. Also use the archive if you quickly need a link, have lost one of the previous lessons, or have not received a lesson.
Advanced NLP Seminars
Of course, we also offer real seminars with personal encounters. This starts with our free NLP Evening Seminars in various cities in Germany and goes up to complete, twenty-day trainings: Practitioner, Master, Trainer and Coach.
