NLP-Podcast 99: No More Single - Interview with Marie Mernke
Maria Mernke was single for many years and eventually got tired of the pain and self-doubt. Since that point, she has been professionally engaged with the topics of love, being single, and partnerships. On her blog and in her podcast „Ask-Marie“ she openly shares her experiences and answers her fans' questions.
What to do as a "perpetual single"?
Stephan Landsiedel and Marie Mernke discuss single life in this podcast episode. Those who have been wishing for a relationship for over 3 years and it just doesn't work out may be making one of these common mistakes:
- Entering into partnerships with people who do not want a relationship in the hope that it will eventually become something
- Taking on the victim role, where one is content with the situation without changing anything
Those who try to avoid these two mistakes have already taken the first step in the right direction.
Being single and belief systems
Another important step is working with one's own belief systems. Many people fail to find a partner because they block themselves with such or similar negative beliefs:
- „All the great partners are already taken“: Through this belief, many singles only perceive those who are already in relationships and may not even notice that there are still great singles out there who also wish for a partnership
- „I am too special, there is no suitable partner for me“: Those who keep thinking this sentence make it impossible for themselves to find a partner
Marie therefore encourages all singles to formulate positive beliefs for themselves that strengthen their self-confidence: „There are enough singles out there who match me and with whom I can have a happy partnership!" Those who go through life with this belief make their lives much easier and no longer stand in their own way when looking for a partner.
Love at second sight
In the complete podcast episode, Stephan and Marie provide more tips on how singles can find a partner. However, once a partner is found, one should not think that everything is done.
A common reason why new partnerships quickly fall apart is the expectation. Often, people think that everything must go well in a partnership from the start and see conflicts as a red flag. Marie therefore advises couples to communicate openly with each other and to talk about their feelings, and not to fear conflicts. A good partnership then develops over time into a deep relationship, where couples feel comfortable with each other and enjoy investing time in their partnership. In the podcast, you can listen to more tips on how to maintain a partnership for a long time.
Marie has developed an online program where singles are supported on their way to a relationship for 6 weeks. In these 6 weeks, participants receive daily input in the form of texts and videos. The daily tasks and exercises take about 20-30 minutes and help participants make progress every day.
