NLP Podcast 91: 5 misconceptions about modelling – with Ralf Stumpf
Ralf Stumpf started with NLP in 1986 to learn about modeling – unfortunately, he did not learn how modeling works and is applied in his NLP training. Therefore, Ralf Stumpf spent years exploring the topic of modeling himself and became the leading modeling expert in the German-speaking world. He is an NLP trainer according to DVNLP and leads our NLP location in Berlin.
Since the episodes were released, Ralf Stumpf has received feedback from our listeners from time to time. In this feedback, some misconceptions about modeling have been addressed, and Ralf Stumpf wants to clarify these misconceptions in this episode. However, you can listen to this episode without any prior knowledge. The following 5 statements are claims that modeling expert Ralf Stumpf considers to be misunderstandings:
- You can only really model something well if you completely and fully understand the strategy.
- The really interesting things can't be modeled anyway, or at least they can't be described in what ultimately makes them what they are.
- Modeling is an NLP invention.
- When you model, when you take over strategies from others, then you are no longer yourself.
- Modeling is terribly difficult.
In the complete episode, you will learn why these 5 points are misconceptions. Modeling expert Ralf Stumpf first explains what modeling really is. He also goes into detail about the five points and clarifies the misconceptions. A small note: In the fifth point and the statement that modeling is terribly difficult, there is actually some truth – this sentence is not completely wrong. What exactly is meant by this, you will learn in the podcast. Enjoy!
