NLP Podcast 88: Playfully exploring values with Ralf Besser

Ralf Besser is an NLP trainer and has founded his own foundation . The central goal of this foundation is to encourage people to reflect on their own values. "It is important to me at heart, when working with values, not to define them, but to encourage people to explore their own through reflection rituals," says Ralf Besser. Individuals or groups with a project related to values and seeking support can reach out to the foundation.

Explore values playfully

Ralf Besser has developed a game himself, with which values can be explored playfully.

In his first game, there are various life fields, and for each field, there are several cards with value questions. Additionally, there are unusual questions that stimulate thought. An example: "You go to the doctor, and the doctor prescribes you values. Would you exchange the prescription or not?".

The game is set up as a board game, and participants gradually land on the different fields with the questions. This way, participants engage playfully with their values. In the game, there are no winners or losers – most of the time, the game ends with players starting an exciting discussion about values. The beauty of this game is that participants subconsciously engage with their values and do not even realize that they are working intensively on their values.

In the podcast episode, Ralf Besser talks about the different versions of his game, how the various contents were created, and the backgrounds of the games. He also reveals his 3 highest values and gives 3 tips for dealing with values. Additionally, Ralf Besser and Annemarie Freitag discuss how important it is to bring value work and value education into kindergartens and schools.
