NLP Podcast 63: Faith, Religion, and Tolerance

In this podcast episode, Stephan Landsiedel talks with his co-trainer Sebastian Heilmann during his NLP international master's program in Mallorca about the topic of NLP and the church. Sebastian Heilmann is a trained educator, has studied diaconal theology and pedagogy, and works full-time in churches as a deacon in educational work. His focus is on internal training and further education as well as coaching educational staff of the church.

Most people from the church environment have never heard of NLP,” says Sebastian Heilmann. NLP is a wonderful tool and can be very well used in church services or church groups. He himself primarily applies NLP in training to resolve conflicts or disturbances and to improve group work.

Tolerance in faith

There are different paths to the summit, and fundamentally it is about the experiences we have with our faith and our religion. Nevertheless, we strongly condemn those who have taken a different path to the summit, even though we want to be on the same summit.” (Stephan Landsiedel)

God is for me the highest form of energy that can connect people,” explains Sebastian Heilmann. For him, God is not tied to a specific person or a specific idea. Even in the Bible, there are different versions that sometimes contradict each other. “The special thing about religion is that we can allow diversity to coexist,” emphasizes Sebastian Heilmann – however, he does not deny that the church still struggles with other forms of religion. This kind of conflict or tolerance issues among different religions could be avoided in the future if people focus less on the differences and more on the commonalities.

In the complete podcast episode, you will learn how the church can use NLP in the service to make the service more vibrant, attractive, and fascinating. Additionally, Sebastian Heilmann and Stephan Landsiedel reveal personal details regarding their faith.
