NLP-Podcast 6: Anchoring

The "Anchor"

Anchoring Stimulus-ResponseIn this episode, we discuss the topic of anchoring and setting anchors. What does an anchor mean in NLP? An anchor is a stimulus-response coupling and describes a learned association of stimuli with certain responses. Most people have, for example, certain songs as anchors. When we hear a specific song, memories resurface that we had when we first heard the song in a very special situation. Many couples have "their" song that always reminds them of their romantic beginnings. Other anchors include touches, the national flag, certain objects, or words. Anyone can use anchors to quickly shift into positive emotional states – this can be useful in both business and personal life.

Anchoring and Setting Anchors

The Setting Anchors means the conscious linking of an external stimulus with an existing experience. All sensory channels can be used for anchoring, such as images, sounds, sensations, or smells. You can either set an anchor for yourself or have it set by another person – this is called self-anchoring and external anchoring. How anchoring works and what you must absolutely pay attention to, you will learn in our podcast. Enjoy listening!
