NLP-Podcast 30: Six-Step-Reframing

“Behind every problematic behavior/symptom lies a good intention.”

This fundamental assumption of NLP means that it doesn't matter how differently we act – there is certainly a positive intention that the actor wants to fulfill at that moment. The technique of Six-Step-Reframing attempts to find the positive intention behind a misbehavior, in order to fulfill the positive intention in the future with a neutral or even positive behavior instead of the misbehavior.

Six-Step-Reframing

The Six-Step-Reframing is one of the most famous NLP intervention models. In six steps, behavioral habits can be illuminated and changed. Essential elements are the separation of intention from behavior and the parts model, which deals with different personality aspects.

The technique of Six-Step-Reframing is particularly well-suited for psychosomatic symptoms and especially for symptoms that elude consciousness: One has no idea why one has the symptom. Constantly oscillating between consciousness and unconsciousness, between wakefulness and trance.

Stephan Landsiedel explains the procedure for this format step by step in this podcast episode. He also reveals how the format can be easily transformed and thus used in a business context.
