A treat in our podcast series: At the request of many listeners, Stephan and Ralf discuss what NLP actually is. To get to the bottom of this question, the two NLP master trainers reflect on their history and their own first impressions in the NLP world and how they discovered this method for themselves and how their own understanding of NLP has changed over the decades. Together, they have now spent more than 60 years engaged with NLP.

Until his first contact with NLP, Ralf had already tried various approaches, from psychoanalysis to primal therapy. Ralf shares how NLP transformed for him from a tool for manipulation and success to an approach for self-realization and human development. For Stephan, NLP was from the very beginning the opportunity to change his life and to be able to help others.

The two discuss various origins and factors that feed into NLP and attempt to arrive at a comprehensive definition to do justice to the “treasure trove” of NLP techniques and the seemingly endless possibilities in coaching. They highlight why the working method of NLP excites them so much and emphasize the aspect of NLP's dynamic adaptability to the respective clients. Because NLP offers the possibility to tap into the individual resources of each personality and utilize them for change work.

They discuss what changes they have observed in the NLP scene over the years and what they wish for the future of collaboration.
