NLP Podcast 133: The Mental Revolution – In Conversation with Steffen Kirchner

Marian Zefferer speaks today with Steffen Kirchner. He has already experienced him live at "Gedanken Tanken" in Vienna. Steffen was a professional athlete, later he won the German volleyball championship as a manager with his team and is now primarily active as a mental coach. He works for companies, holds seminars for private individuals, and also works with professional athletes.

The definition of success changes throughout life. Steffen's current answer to that is: "Success is, on one hand, an outer success, meaning what can be measured or defined by results, more money or titles that one wins or recognition... but the inner success, the fulfillment, must also come along, otherwise, from my perspective, it is failure!" But not only the results level and the emotional level are important, the process level must also be included. Only when these 3 levels come together is it success.

Risk-taking was not one of Steffen's traits. He recounts his "biggest failure" from his early days in the open seminar field. His first seminar was fully booked by his community, so his second seminar was supposed to be larger. Unfortunately, the registrations were lacking, leading to high costs for the venue and his now established team.
Mental RevolutionBy now, he sees this not as failure, but as learning. Steffen has built a "muscle" in the meantime, so risk aversion is no longer a weakness. He achieved this through hormesis – what that is and how Steffen accomplished it, you will learn in this podcast episode!

The two also discuss problem-solving competence and the book "The Mental Revolution," which Steffen recently published. You can find more information about it in the episode and also on his websites:
