Time-Line
There are various ways to use Time-Line therapy for change work. Each path has a significant impact on the personality of the individual. Different application methods are presented under this link.
1. Elimination of memories
Take the memory out of the Time-Line and let it explode into the sun. Then replace it with a beneficial memory.
2. Change of events
You can enter an event and change it. Say: "Now I let the film run, watching through my eyes and acting with all the resources I need for it." This is a standard pattern for changing personal history. Afterwards, the shape can be altered by saying: "Notice how changing this event also changes other similar events on your Time-Line." This anchors and expands the change.
3. Elimination of negative feelings
You can erase negative feelings such as fear, shame, guilt, or dread. The procedure: Let the person hover above their Time-Line and go 15 minutes further to the other side of the event that caused the bad feeling. Then let them look towards "Now" and ask: "Where is this bad feeling now?" – It will disappear. Alternatively, the feeling can be "taken off the hook" (a metaphor): It is taken out of the lower corner, and the person steps out of the picture so they can see themselves. This dissociates them from the feelings.
4. Phobia model
If you run the phobia model often enough, it destroys the emotional impact of a memory. A film runs at high speed, black and white and dissociated, until the point of strongest feelings or until the end. Then the image is stopped and made completely white or black. Afterwards, you re-associate and let the film run backwards in color. After several runs, the memory fades, feelings dissolve, and the person reacts neutrally.
5. Irresistible future
In Time-Line therapy, there are ways to change the future to make it more attractive. Future events can be designed to appear more appealing and generate motivation.
6. Change of the direction of the Time-Line
You can also change how people organize their time – for example, from "In Time" to "Through Time" or vice versa. Let them hover above their Time-Line and say: "As you float back into the Now, turn your Time-Line 90 degrees so that: a) it is completely in front of you and extends from right to left, or b) your past is behind you." This change alters a person's temporal orientation.
