The Dickens Pattern

Exchange old, paralyzing beliefs for new, empowering ones. Shake the foundation of your old belief until it collapses like a house of cards. Then build your belief of choice on a new, stronger, and unshakable foundation.

In this format, powerful disadvantages and pain are linked to the old belief. It’s important to briefly experience that pain in an associated state. Only when you show your mind clearly how much your old belief costs you — mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially — will you create enough motivation to eliminate it once and for all.

Before starting, answer the following questions for each of your limiting beliefs:

  1. What has it already cost me in the past to hold on to this belief?
  2. What is it costing me right now in the present?
  3. And what will it cost me mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially in the future if I don’t get rid of this belief once and for all today?

Next, identify a new, empowering belief and replace the old one. Cross out the old belief with passion — destroy it. For example, instead of “I’m too young,” say “Youth means power.” Then mock the old belief with an exaggerated, silly voice. Say: “My old belief was: I’m too young. That’s complete nonsense. The truth is: Youth means power!”

Move your body, allow yourself to feel emotional — that’s when this technique works best. Try singing the old statement or saying it in a high-pitched Mickey Mouse voice. This makes the old belief ridiculous, breaks the old pattern, and allows you to plant your new belief firmly in its place.
